Start-ups are indisputably hot right now. I’ve noticed a lot of my fellow college classmates have goals to work for a start-up or small company when they graduate. Everybody wants to be a part of the underdog story. A quick search online will give you multiple resources on the differences between working at a small versus a large companies and what to expect if you decide to work at the former. I’ve compiled a list of the top 5 most common characteristics to expect when contemplating taking a job with a start-up and why people join them.
The Value of a Good Work-Ethic and a Positive Attitude
In a market where jobs are hard to come by, it always helps to have any extra insights that can help you stand out amongst the sometimes seemingly massive crowd of unemployed workers. As the competition increases, one has to be aware of new information as it comes out and try to be the first through new channels to get noticed first. One also has to be aware of trends in what employers are currently looking for to better fit their needs.
Interning at eHire
It’s Friday and the end of my fifth week here at eHire as their marketing intern and I am having a great summer so far. The team has given me a very warm welcome and I feel right at home. I’m glad that I was fortunate enough to get an internship at a small company on the brink of so many big changes. Luckily with all their new employees, I’m not the only one who is clueless to the inside jokes.
