Animation Technical Artist (2D Artist)
We're looking for someone that is passionate about creating fun, engaging gaming experiences for our players and who can wear multiple hats as a Tech Artist and Animator.
You will play a significant role in bringing our mobile game to life through both 2D and 3D animations, rigging, and sprite sheet generation. In this role you will work closely with the Art Director and creative team to create polished and visually engaging assets.
Build and manage animation sets and character assets in Unity.
Work with developers to create new tech to support the creation of features and systems.
Understand specs from game designers to target gameplay functionality.
Work with the art team to support their work engine side.
Maintain an organized workflow and exercise best practices with naming conventions, documentation, etc.
Troubleshoot existing tech and support testing and improvements of incoming tech.
Rig, weight-paint, and animate in a Spine, Anima2D, or Unity style bone system.
Create an optimal rigging workflow, for low-poly 3D characters, to maximize the reusability of rigs and animation sets.
Work within technical limitations to prepare quality art elements in the required format.
Coordinate with developers to deliver optimized formats for the best performance in-game.
2 - 4 years of Technical Art, with a focus on animation and rigging, or related experience that involves at least one shipped game title.
Unity engine familiarity.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with multiple teams.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong problem solving skills.
Self-motivated, well organized, and able to multitask.
Excellent understanding of character animation as well as 2D and 3D animation techniques.
Confidence managing assets and working with the Unity platform.
Experienced in best practices using Perforce to sync, submit, and manage game assets.
A deep passion and knowledge of gaming.
Strong aptitude for continuous learning.
Experience in a secondary area such as motion graphics, VFX, or animation.
