Director of Data and Software Engineering
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on, data & software engineering thought leader to design and build the next generation of enterprise-wide data platforms. You will play a hands-on role in the architecture and engineering of new data platforms, software and DevSecOps tools.
As a member of a cross-functional team of product managers, software & data engineers and designers, you will combine your software engineering, problem-solving and collaboration skills to solve complex problems in the aerospace and defense industry leveraging best of breed FOSS and COTS technologies. This role will work closely with the business units to challenge the boundaries of what’s possible and drive innovation.

What You’ll Do
Lead a team of Software and Data Engineers
Architect software & Data solutions for the Aero Space and Defense industry
Help set technology standards and software engineering practices
Develop and maintain software, common libraries and tools
Optimize for performance and scalability
Optimize for quality and reliability
Foster an engineering culture
Drive software engineering best practices
Ensure the timely delivery of software through continuous improvement and agile engineering maturity
Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practice experience
12+ years of experience
Hands-on experience and mastery in:
Apache Spark ecosystem
Cloud Object Storage
Batch, Streaming, API and CDC data integration patterns & management tools
Continuous Integration & DevSecOps tools
Eventually consistent & schemaless databases
Knowledge and experience with cloud architecture and engineering, with at least one major platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Hands-on experience and Intermediate expertise in:
Data Warehouse, Data Lake & Lakehouse architectures
Excellent people leadership and collaboration skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to define and continuously simplify working practices
Ability to foster the target culture in a large organization
Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills
