Director Software Engineering

A rapidly growing FinTech company headquartered in Atlanta is adding another Director of Software Engineering to lead the development efforts of one of their product lines.  Looking for a hands-on strategic leader, who is smart, and self-motivated. The Director Software Engineering will leverage their expertise to offer recommendations to keep the company on track with the product roadmap while maintaining service levels. The Director needs to be a software architect, formally a lead developer, working on enterprise software systems on top of the Microsoft Windows/.NET and have excellent database management experience. In this role, the Director has an opportunity to help transform the development team, products, strategy, and process.

Position Requirements:

  • Manages and directs the .NET software development organization
  • Strong experience using Agile/Scrum/DevOps principles
  • Drives and establishes software architecture standards across software products
  • Fosters a collaborative, productive environment while establishing clear expectations, accountability, and the goals for the .NET Engineering team
  • Expert in Object Oriented development (demonstrated by having designed large scale and complete systems)
  • Leads/participates in code reviews and technical meetings
  • Leads/influences project planning and estimates
  • Mentors their team in modern coding, standards and design practices
  • Ensures that the teams deliver quality, well designed products on schedule
  • Establishes and enforces software development methodologies, processes and policies
  • Creates a culture of quality, agility and high performance
  • Assists with the screening, recruiting, and hiring of top engineers
  • Monitors the performance of employee and mentor them to ensure effective and happy teams
  • Manages external development partners and vendors, including offshore teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Advanced engineering degree desired
  • 10+ years of combined experience in large scale product (software) development with minimum of 5 years as an architect or technical lead
  • 5+ years of experience as a development manager, with the ability to hire and terminate employees
  • Experience running portfolios of development projects running concurrently
  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences through excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work closely with product managers to ensure that technical features such as scalability, security, redundancy and fail-over are addressed
