Network and Systems Engineer / Administrator – Windows
We are seeking an experienced technology professional to provide network and systems administration, support and maintenance in a mixed Windows and Linux environment. The primary focus of this role is Windows server and desktop management. Administration of network equipment including Brocade/Ruckus/Broadcom switches and Juniper and Cisco firewalls. Support of Linux operating systems, XenServer virtualization, SAN/NAS systems, and Nutanix will be required at times. Our Windows environment provides authentication (AD), DNS, and DHCP services to our entire Windows and Linux environment. Some of our Windows systems are virtualized on a XenServer platform, some are housed within AWS, and some are physical and reside in our data center. Additionally, this role requires administration of Office 365 (Exchange) and Microsoft EMS (Intune, Azure AD, MDM/MAM, DLP, AIP). This role requires working with software developers and business users to provide for their computing needs while maintaining security and adhering to established standards. This is a HIPAA compliant, SOC 2 Type 2 certified, and NIST CSF aligned environment. Adherence to these standards is required.
 
Required Skills:
  • Windows Server administration - Installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a Windows Server 2016/2019 and Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise environment. Ability to write PowerShell scripts preferred.
  • Windows Desktop Management – Maintain local and remote desktop/laptop PC environment as well as AWS Workspaces for end-users, including security, data loss prevention, and business applications. Majority of end user systems are laptops utilizing docking stations and are currently remotely used. The primary computing environment for most end users is AWS Workspaces.
  • Mobility management – Maintain mobile computing environment including company owned laptops as well as BYOD smartphones and tablets. Ensure security compliance and mitigate risks.

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience systems administration
  • 3+ years experience network administration
  • Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively multi-task.

Responsibilities:
  • Windows (Active Directory) server administration.
  • Network administration.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of network communications.
  • Help design and install internal and external networks.
  • Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
  • Set up, configure, and support internal and external networks.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues.
  • Assist with maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
  • Assists in the maintenance of virtual environment, including attached storage and network systems.
  • Work with development team to maintain software development environment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users.
  • Maintain desktop computing environment.
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in the planning and engineering of organization's systems infrastructure.
  • Participate in the implementation and design of hardware and software.
  • Monitor the performance of systems.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Visit data center (Atlanta) as needed to provide maintenance, system installation, support, etc.
  • Maintain internal documentation of systems, networks, processes, etc.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows server operating systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Install and configure workstations.
  • Administration of Office 365 Exchange environment.
  • Administration of Microsoft EMS environment including Intune, EMM, AIP, DLP, and Azure AD.
  • Administration of Active Directory (for Windows and Linux authentication and management), DNS, and DHCP.
  • Develop and maintain all Windows systems, applications, security, and configurations.
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems. Recommend upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Recommend and schedule repairs.
  • Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software. Monitors systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards.
  • Maintain application data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity on SAN/NAS.
  • Perform system backups and recovery and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users.
  • Rely on experience and judgment as well as instructions and pre-established guidelines to plan and accomplish goals and perform wide variety of tasks
  • Participate in planning of changes to network and computing environments including moving systems and connectivity to and from cloud environments
