The Professional Services Consultant is responsible for deploying software solutions within our customer base in the field. This position is a customer facing consulting role that requires exceptional collaborative skills and the ability to build strong partnerships with various cross-functional groups throughout our customer base and within the company. This role requires software development skills which will be utilized for writing custom solutions for customers; typically integrating our products with 3rd party software. Regularly traveling and interfacing with customers in-person is an expectation for this role.

 

Responsibilities of our Professional Services Consultant (Field Solutions) include:

  • Technical mastery of at least one product with associated product applications OR one highly specialized field skill such as integration with 3rd party products using API’s, NERC/CIP Energy experience, or IT Security
  • Deliver services both onsite and remote
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues to resolve customer problems, obtaining additional support for complex situations
  • Develop custom scripts, utilities, and integrations to fulfill customer need as identified
  • Deliver product specific, curriculum-based training
  • Collect infrastructure technical requirements, then create implementation and production deployment procedures for our products to interoperate and work within customer’s environment
  • Support projects by delivering timely status updates to internal and customer teams
  • Document project status for internal team and client including, but not limited to, project scheduling, project tracking and status/completion reporting
  • Execute to customer/project requirements and escalate issues to senior leadership
  • Self-driven: requires limited oversight while on assignment
  • Under general supervision of senior team members, performs a variety of routine and non-routine duties
  • Authority to act within defined policies inside area of expertise/knowledge as directed
  • Provide remote and on-site support to customer during the testing, evaluation/pilot, and production phases to ensure a successful deployment
  • Support the Professional Services revenue objectives by maintaining 65% billable utilization
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Required and Preferred Skills and Experience for our Professional Services Consultant:

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with web service APIs (Apache Axis, SOAP, REST, etc.)
  • Ability to program in Java, Perl, Python, or similar language
  • A professional and positive demeanor with a service orientation is essential to this position
  • Interest or previous experience delivering product specific, curriculum-based training
  • Highly motivated with strong communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions and recommendations
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction
  • Superb trouble-shooting skills, persistence in problem-solving
  • Extensive travel will be required; expect up to 75% within the first six months of employment

Desirable (but not required) Skills

  • 5 or more years of field consulting experience (of technical product/services) desirable
  • Fundamental systems security knowledge desirable
  • System administrator experience with UNIX/Linux, Network Devices, and/or Windows Operating Systems desirable
  • Experience with ITSM tools (i.e., ServiceNow, Remedy, Atrium, CA Service Desk) desirable
  • Experience and understanding of regular expressions desirable
  • SANS, White/Black Hat, or other security training (ITIL, GIAC, CISSP, CCNA, or other computer related Information Technology/Security certification) is desirable
  • Experience with build tools (Maven, Gradle, Ant) a plus
  • Experience with version control tools (Git, Subversion, Bazaar) a plus
